Madison Square Garden will once again be part of another historic stellar fight in women’s boxing, when one of the best pound for pound fighters, Amanda Serrano, from Puerto Rico, who is the current unified 126-pound champion, will face the WBA champion, the Mexican Erika Cruz, Saturday, February 4, 2023.
It opens yet another chapter of the explosive rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Serrano (43-2-1, 30 knockouts), champion in seven categories, will seek to fulfill her dream of giving Puerto Rico its first undisputed champion, a feat that has not been achieved in the women’s branch of that country.
This exciting contest between Puerto Rico and Mexico will take place at the Hulu theater, located in Madison Square Garden and will be broadcast live on the DAZN application.
Serrano most recently saw action in September, when she defeated undefeated world champion Sarah Mahfoud of Denmark by unanimous decision.
Cruz won the WBA belt in April 2021, when she defeated former two-division world champion Jelena Mrdjenovich of Canada by technical decision in New York.
