All Set for the WBC Boxing Grand Prix Semifinals in Riyadh
After three intense stages, the WBC Boxing Grand Prix now enters its semifinal phase. The official weigh-in took place this Saturday, October 18, at the Joudyan Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The semifinals will be held on October 19 at the Global Theater in Boulevard City, Riyadh.
The tournament began with 128 participants from 43 countries, divided into four weight categories with 32 fighters each: Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight.
In the first stage, held in April, a total of 64 fights took place, 16 per division, all scheduled for 6 rounds. The winners advanced directly to the next phase. The second stage, held in June, featured 32 fights; and the third stage, in August, contested a total of 16 bouts.
WEIGH-IN
*In the WBC Grand Prix, fighters in the Featherweight and Lightweight divisions are granted a two-pound allowance. Middleweight fighters receive a 2.5-pound allowance due to the implications of long travel with multiple stops to Saudi Arabia.
