
Five years after his debut in professional boxing and 20 months after his last fight, former Puerto Rican world champion Alberto Machado will look for a new phase in his career this Friday, December 9, in the 140-pound division against Ecuadorian José Angulo ( 14-3 and 7 KO’s) at the Pedrín Zorrilla Coliseum, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and it will be broadcast on PROBOX TV.
At stake the vacant FECARBOX championship, a subsidiary of the World Boxing Council, and it will be presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions.
“This is my return. I’m here to get up off the ground. It’s a new opportunity that I’m giving myself. I need to do this; keep boxing and I’ve achieved it. Friday will be a special night,” said Machado, who has a record of 22-3 and 18 KO’s.
The card will have eight fights and will feature Edwin “Chin” Valentín (11-0 and 10 KO’s) against Yeison Vargas (22-11 and 15 KO’s), Richard Rivera (21-1 and 16 KO’s) against the Argentine Ariel Basconsel (13-3-1 and 12 KO’s). William Ortiz, the Mexican Yair Gallardo, Addiel Pérez and Bryan Pérez will also be fighting.
