At “The Jab” gym in Mexico City, former light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson was present to truly inspire, at a press conference held by the WBC.
Adonis was recognized by WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, for being an example of courage and perseverance, remembering that he had a miraculous recovery after an accident he suffered in the ring in 2018.
At the 2019 World Boxing Council convention, Stevenson was named the Champion of Hope, for coming out ahead from the toughest fight of his life outside the ring.
This Thursday the President of the WBC presented Adonis a world champion bracelet so that the colors Green and Gold are always with him in this new stage as WBC Ambassador.
Adonis commented, “I feel very happy and grateful with life. God is on my side. There are people who are surprised that I have had a recovery from such a complicated injury. I feel very good and very happy to be here,
“Thanks for the hospitality to Mexico and the WBC, I fought hard in my boxing career and I fought even harder to continue living. I am proud to be named Champion of Hope. Now what I have to do is bring hope to the whole world and teach everyone that dreams can be achieved,
“I was close to dying and I believe that if I am still in this world it is to help others and to give a message of hope to those who need it most,”
