On July 6 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Abdu Rozik will face Erali Boyqobilov in a boxing match, becoming an attractive fight between two popular influences from the Middle East.
Abdu suffers from rickets, a condition characterized by short stature, lower extremity deformities, and defective mineralization of bone combined with Growth hormone deficiency (GHD), also known as dwarfism or pituitary dwarfism,. A condition caused by insufficient amounts of growth hormone in the body. People with GHD have abnormally short stature with normal body proportions. As a combination it is much more difficult to treat, but if provisions are made from a young age there is a chance of some growth.
Rozik was appointed as WBC ambassador by President Mauricio Sulaimán, as he is a great example for society. Abdu had a very hard childhood, he was discriminated, he could not go to school and he could not get the treatment necessary to grow.
He found singing as a way to deal with these challenges, when he was less than 15 years old. Now through his passion for boxing he has become a spokesperson and inspiration for people with growth hormone deficiency.
Our President Mauricio Sulaimán had the opportunity to talk via zoom during our weekly press conference and this is what he commented about his upcoming fight on July 6.
Abdu Rozik
”Since I trained boxing I was able to grow a little more, I helped my body improve. I thank the WBC and boxing for giving me the opportunity to be someone in life. I invite you to see my fight this Saturday July 6.
”I’m going to get in the ring and show the world that I know how to fight. I’m not part of a game. I am strong and I will win my fight.
”Boxing made me strong. It taught me discipline and I want to inspire many people with conditions similar to mine, who are not receiving the opportunities they deserve. I want to tell everyone that we must be better and give chances to those who deserve them. I hope I can become someone who can bring inspiration to those who are discriminated against.
”I love you so much!”
