
Mexican sports leader Pedro Treto Cisneros, renowned for his impact on national baseball, was honored this Thursday with the unveiling of his statue on Manuel L. Barragán Avenue in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
The ceremony was attended by WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán, a close friend of the Treto family.
The event brought together relatives, former sports executives, fans, and local authorities, who highlighted Treto Cisneros’s legacy as former president of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), creator of the Encyclopedia of Mexican Baseball, and founder of the Alejo Peralta Academy in Pastejé.
During his remarks, Mauricio Sulaimán recalled the bond between his father, José Sulaimán, and Treto Cisneros: “My father’s friendship with Don Pedro was unique. They were more than friends — they were countrymen… our families shared a lifelong connection.”
In a symbolic gesture, the WBC presented a Green and Gold championship belt to Treto Cisneros’s son, naming him an “honorary world champion,”
emphasizing that leadership and dedication are also part of a true champion’s fight.
With this tribute, Treto Cisneros takes his place among the great sports figures who transcend their discipline, thanks to a life devoted to Mexican sports with vision and commitment.
