A “Shropshire Lad!” Liam Davies defeats Ionut Baluta

At the Telford International Center in Telford, UK, Liam Davies (13-0, 5 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over veteran Ionut Baluta (15-4, 3 KOs) to win the super bantamweight EBU and WBC International titles.

Baluta came out with impetus, making it a fight with Davies. Both were landing good shots in a high paced fight.
It was give and take for several of the next few rounds, with Davies being the more accurate of the two.

As the competition developed, Davies became more and more precise and dominant, showing quality.
The judges’ scorecards were 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111.
