This Thursday, one of the premieres of the movie Big George Foreman took place in Las Vegas, in an event supported by the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame; and the brave A.J. Latimer was a special guest.
A.J. he is a young warrior who is battling leukemia and who has become an inspiration to the boxing family because of his strength, optimism and sheer courage.
A.J and the other attendees were able to enjoy this great movie based on one of the greatest boxing icons of recent times, George Foreman.
A menacing and hard-hitting colossus during his heyday, “Big George” amassed a record of 76 wins (68 KOs) and 5 losses in a career that spanned from 1969 to 1997.
Foreman was a gold medalist at the 1968 United States Olympic Games and beat the likes of Joe Frazier (twice), Ken Norton and Ron Lyle during the golden era of heavyweight boxing.
Foreman suffered his first professional loss in 1974 to Muhammad Ali at “The Rumble in the Jungle” in Zaire.
Foreman retired in 1977 after a loss to Jimmy Young; he had a religious epiphany and remained inactive until 1987.
His comeback campaign culminated in becoming the oldest heavyweight champion of all time at the tender age of 45 when he knocked out Michael Moorer in 1994.
Foreman, an ordained Christian minister, has also touched the lives of tens of millions of people as the entrepreneur behind the commercially successful George Foreman Grill.
Actor Khris Davis, who played Steel in “Judas and the Black Messiah” and Malik in “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” plays the role of Foreman.
The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. and also stars Forest Whitaker, Matthew Glave, John Magaro, Sullivan Jones, Jasmine Mathews, Sonja Sohn, Shein Mompremier, Lawrence Gilliard Jr, Sam Trammell, Erica Tazel, Matthew Glave and Al .Sapienza.
