The formidable Charles “Sonny” Liston became heavyweight world Champion after knocking out Floyd Patterson in the first round. The bout took place at The Convention Center in Las Vegas. Patterson was stunningingly dropped three times to the canvas. After the last one Referee Harold Krauze, completed the 10 count.
