A day like today, Puerto Rican Wilfred Benitez conquered the WBC welterweight championship

The undefeated Puerto Rican born in the Bronx, Wilfred Benitez, conquered the WBC welterweight championship at the tender age of twenty, defeating Carlos Palomino by split decision. The fight took place at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Referee was Zach  Clayton. The Judges  were Harry Gibbs and Jay Edson. During his career wonderfully talented  Wilfredo  would conquer world titles in three different weight categories.
