A day like today, Miguel Canto conquered WBC championship

January 8, 1975.- Miguel Canto, better known  as “The Maestro” became WBC flyweight champion after defeating Japan’s Shoji Oguma by majority decision after 15 rounds. The clash took place at the Miyaqi Sports Center in Sendai, Japan. The Referee  was Jay Edson and the  Judges  were Jose Maria Escalante and Hiroyuki Tezaki. Canto had an amazing career as king of the division. He defended his crown 15 times.
