
Jul, 2nd, 1921.- Up on a wooden stage specially built for this Spectacular by promoter Tex Rickard, immortal Jack Dempsey defeated French idol Georges “Orchid Kid” Carpentier in four blistering rounds, defending the heavyweight crown. The fight was staged at the “30 Boyle acres,” located in a suburb of Jersey City, New Jersey. The event passed into history, as it was the first million dollar plus box office bonanza for a boxing match.
