A day like today, Heavyweight Champion Gene Tunney fought the last fight of his career

Heavyweight Champion, Gene Tunney, fought the last fight of his pro career. This was the only defense of his title. He defeated contender, Tom Heeney, by TKO in round 11. The fight was at  Yankee Stadium in New York.  Jack Dempsey, the man who Tunney dethroned  was in the challenger´s corner. Some days after the fight, James Joseph Tunney, announced his retirement, and stuck to his word.
