1990.- Considered as the biggest surprise in boxing, in fact one helluva SHOCKWAVE…. James “Buster” Douglas, got up from a knockdown in the 8th round to defeat Mike Tyson, with a TKO in the tenth. Against staggering odds Buster, who’s Mother Lula Pearl died 23 days before the bout, was on a mission, absolutely determined to conquer the WBC heavyweight Championship, to honor and forever cherish her memory. He used his twelve inch reach advantage to control the bout throughout, at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. The Referee who make the 10 count was Octavio Meyran. The Judges were Larry Rozadilla, Ken Morita and Masakazu Uchida. WBC supervisor was Elias Ghanem. Douglas was up on two of cards, when it was stopped while the third had it as a draw.
