Argentinian, Hugo Pastor Corro, defended the middleweight world title defeating American Southpaw winner of the gold medal in  Mexico 1968 Olympic games, Ronnie Harris,  by split decision in a 15 rounds bout. The fight took place at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The third man in the ring was Waldemar Schmidt. The Judges were Jose Juan Guerra and Jesus Celis.
