The undisputed world champions, Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and American Jermell Charlo, were face to face for the first time at a press conference in New York.
And let’s face it. The event went rather well with bags of mutual respect!
Both fighters will clash on September 30 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Canelo, super middleweight champion, awaits one of the biggest challenges of his career when he faces the undisputed super welterweight champion.
Neither is exactly bashful or shy!
“I want to thank Charlo for taking this fight, he is a great fighter without a doubt, I appreciate his disposition. I also appreciate the collaboration of all involved. Jermell is an undisputed boxer, with class. I am happy to be in this position, stay tuned for September 30,” said Canelo.
Jermell courteously replied:
“Álvarez and his team are a legend, they did it, they have put on great fights and I want to be part of that. The time is now and I have to risk it. I thank all the team that is behind me and that has supported me, I want to make a strong and intelligent fight, I am excited”.
