Usyk’s got bigger fish to fry!
K2 Promotions Ukraine and Matchroom Boxing met in New York to successfully negotiate the star spangled path of undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
It’s likely that Usyk’s (16-0, 12 KOs) next fight will be in May. The goal is to face a big name of the heavyweights in the United States.
Alexander Krassyuk, general director of the Ukrainian section of K2 Promotions, commented During an interview:
“The main theme of our meeting was the return of Oleksandr Usyk. This is a subject that the world wants to learn about. We are in the process of making a decision. We have determined that it is most likely that his return match will be as heavyweight on May 18 or 25. Usyk wants to face the best right away and conquer the division. ”
The Ukrainian megastar had a thrilling and brilliant year, winning the World Boxing Council Fighter of the Year Award. Last July, he became the first fighter to lift the Muhammad Ali Trophy by winning the prestigious World Boxing Super Series tournament, unifying the cruiserweight division. The unbeaten champion finished the year in November when he traveled to London to defeat former champion Tony Bellew.
