
Undefeated WBC interim super middleweight champion David “Mexican Monster” Benavídez, and the former world champion Caleb Plant, shake, rattle and roll this Saturday, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Benavidez and Plant will go he’ll for leather words because only one will emerge from this simmering cauldron to become the official challenger for the 168-pound crown.
The undefeated 25-year-old Benavídez (26-0, 23 KOs) became the youngest 168-pound world champion in history at just 20 years old when he defeated Ronald Gavril via split decision for the vacant WBC title in 2017. A Phoenix fighter who now lives and trains in the Seattle area, has sealed his place in the super middleweight division with immense knockout power.
Blossoming Plant (22-1, 13 KOs), has used his skills and resources, becoming world champion, stumbled but in his recent fight, showed great power defeating with one of the best knockouts of the 2022, defeating former world champion. Anthony Dirrell in the ninth, with a one punch finish.
This event takes place as part of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of relations between Mexico and the United States, representing the multiple connections that both nations share.
