
Miguel Canto undergoes successful surgery
Former world Boxing Council Flyweight champion, Mexican Miguel Canto, was operated on at an IMSS (Mexican Social Security) medical clinic in Yucatán, Mexico.
It`s reported that the surgery was successful and Miguel is stable, and in recovery.
Miguel Canto, born on January 30, 1948 in Merida Yucatan, Mexico, is famous for his superb boxing skills and great defense. In 1971 he won eleven bouts without defeat. In 1972 he had the opportunity to contest the National Flyweight title against Rocky Garcia.
In 1975 Canto traveled to Japan to dethrone the local Shoji Oguma, becoming the first world champion born in Yucatan, on that fabled night.
The whole family of the WBC and the boxing community wish “Maestro” Canto a swift recovery.
