
At a press conference in the Auditorium of Mexico City Police Headquarters, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaimán and Police Chief Omar Hamid García Harfuch presented recognitions to Mexico City Security police, as part of that historic agreement promoting various activities for boxing.
Mauricio described celebrating heroes as unforgettable, because being able to recognize these men and women who go out to seek the protection of citizens in an environment where there are no rules, where there is no protection, daily risking their own lives, is inspiring valour.
He exalted in an exemplary way the work of our police officers because thanks to them we can go out into the streets and feel safe, because their courage and passion give us that confidence.
At this point and as a symbol of the effort and commitment to work as a team, the WBC Leader presented Omar Hamid García Harfuch, the organization’s commemorative coins as well as gloves in pale green and gold.
For Omar Hamid García Harfuch, Secretary of Citizen Security, encouraging Police work through a recognition granted by the WBC in collaboration with the SSC, in a strict sense of social justice, dignifies and exalts the great work carried out by the Police of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City.
The Secretary said he`s very proud to have this cooperation with an organization as important worldwide as the WBC. For the police it is imperative that the elements be recognized because at the end of the day they are those men and women who care for us leaving their homes hoping to return.
He also commented that boxing and the police have a lot in common because discipline and honesty are essential qualities.
“In the police we deal with many adversities; However, we are distinguished by the police officers who, regardless of the obstacles or vicissitudes, are always willing to perform heroic acts, with honor, courage, and a lot of discipline. For me, it is an honour to recognize these heroes, because every day we have stories of value. and courage that show us that there are good people and that working with dedication, we can make a safer city, where we can all live in complete harmony.”
Police Chief Omar Hamid urged all the police officers to continue developing their efforts, because only then can they be better, to work with passion and love for our country and offer citizens a police force that is present, that resolves them and makes them feel safe.
The Inspector General also former world champion Irma García, commented that boxing is one of the formative sports that promotes values and trust, that more and more police officers will repeat the example of their colleagues who were awarded today.
