Dental surgeon and specialist “Dr Hitman” Arthif Daniel , who`s a member of the Medical Committee and Advisory Board of the World Boxing Council, is also a talented welterweight pro boxer and as such, he joined the Colorado Springs training camp of three division champion Terence “Bud” Crawford, where during a gruelling three weeks stint, training alongside the champ, they donned the gloves and sparred.
The Boxing World is yearning for a mega-fight between WBC, WBA (super) and IBF champion Errol Spence Jr and WBO champion Terence Crawford for the undisputed championship…hopefully in the coming year.
Daniel has been friends with Errol for years, originating from his training camps with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He helped Errol with the tail end of his training camp in the UK for the fight against Kell Brook, at Amir Khan´s gym in Bolton.
So how will Errol and Terence match up, for the fight everyone wants to see? Daniel says: “I think it will be a super fight. The boxing world and its fans are in for a real treat. We will be so very lucky to be able to witness this fight. It`s going to be comparable to a modern Sugar Ray Leonard Vs Tommy “Hitman” Hearns. These two champions are future Hall of Famers. What they`ve accomplished so far in their careers is tremendous, and what they`ll go on to achieve will be very good indeed, in my opinion.
“Both are friends of mine so when they fight, I`m going to be on the fence. I just want the best man on the night to win.”
Arthif Daniel’s friendship with Terence came about, when the Crawford team came over to Britain to support Amir Khan in his fight against Kell Brook in February 2022, and they kept in touch, with Bud inviting Daniel to his training camp and to spar with him. During the training camp for Avanesyan, they spoke and arranged for Arthif Daniel´s arrival and attendance for camp in Colorado Spings. Arthif Daniel spoke of the sparring with Crawford: “It was a great experience and amazing. One of the reasons I came into to boxing, was to test myself with the best and train with the best. During our sparring, Terence clearly showed he`s a very intelligent fighter, very strong, very calculating and also very adaptative.
“After knowing Floyd Mayweather Jr for many years and having done three training camps with him, Terence Crawford reminds me of Floyd Mayweather in several ways. He`s very intelligent with a high ring IQ, with the ability to adapt. Floyd is famous for the quote that a true champion can adapt to anything. Terence fits that very, very well. Terence can fight orthodox or southpaw and he`s so smooth in being able to switch. He`s so very talented at both.
“He can box, or fight very effectively at close quarters and his dedicated work ethic is similar to Floyd. Terence also strives to be the best at everything, with such a competitive edge. That applies to strengthening and conditioning work, running and swimming, and even in leisure time, with table tennis and darts!
“We`d be training two, sometimes three times a day, including strength and conditioning. There were also mountain runs, and sparring three times per week. With the sparring, we would be doing four minutes rounds with thirty seconds of rest, and Terence would be sparring three different sparring partners and he would be doing twelve rounds. It was absolutely phenomenal to participate in, watch and to learn from.”
Arthif Daniel would also like to extend his thanks to: Coach Bomack, Coach Red, Coach Saul, Terence’s Dad Terence Sr, Strength and Conditioning Trainer and Nutritionist Ashley.
