Former Multi world champion Floyd Mayweather will face Japanese Mikuru Asakura, 30, who will make his boxing debut in an exhibition fight, on Saturday, September 24, (Sunday 25 in Japan).
Floyd retired from boxing in 2017 with a record of 50 wins with no losses and 27 knockouts. But he has not abandoned the sport, and this weekend he will return to the ring.
This fight marks the second time Floyd has been linked with MMA promotional group RIZIN. In 2018 he participated in a lucrative exhibition fight when he defeated then-20-year-old kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round.
Floyd also participated in an exhibition fight earlier this spring in Dubai, when he outpointed Don Moore over eight rounds.
Floyd was world champion in super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight divisions and did not lose a single fight. In 2017 he beat UFC superstar Conor McGregor, and since then, he has stepped into the ring three times for exhibition fights.
The fight will be the RIZIN 38 main event, and will be broadcast on PPV.
