My name is Fatih Altunkaya. I was born on 01.08.1984 in a small town called Flörsheim, Germany. My grandparents are Turkish but emigrated to Germany in the 1960s.
After my parents’ divorce, I started to box. I have always been interested in martial arts since watching the “Rocky” films. I started off with Wing Chun, then boxing. My childhood was very difficult. I had to learn how to take care of myself very early. I was lucky enough to find a trainer to help me to start my boxing career.
It was a long hard road with many amateur fights. After winning most of them, I started to believe that this was what I wanted to do, so l left my job and concentrated on boxing.
It was very difficult to get my foot in the door because there weren’t many boxing opportunities in my teenage years, without a promoter.
I spent a few years doing all kinds of jobs, but boxing was always in my head and my heart.
I decided to take the risk and open my own boxing club: ‘”Black Wolves.”
My boxing name is “Kara-Kurt” which is Turkish for “Black Wolf”
I started to push and promote young boxers, open doors, and help them in their professional boxing
careers. I wanted to give them the help I never got in my early years.
Two years after opening my Boxing Club I decided to follow my dream and become a professional boxer. I was 35 years old by then. I won 27 from 27 fights and some title fights nationally and internationally. Every boxer dreams of the WBC World Champion title.
I do not have this title, but my career highlight is winning the WBC-Asia Intercontinental title.
I am the proud owner of the “WBC-Asia” light heavyweight belt. My biggest dream would be getting the chance to fight for the WBC World Champion title.
Although it`s been a marathon for me, I know that I have the strength and discipline to make it to the top, and I hope to inspire the next generation to do the same.
