World Boxing Council flyweight champion Julio César Martínez, fights Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo on Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, in packed card headed by the American Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, defending his WBC super flyweight title against former Thai world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
Martinez and Arroyo clashed last year in a fight that ended prematurely, due to a crack of heads in the third round.
Julio Cesar recovered from a knockdown in the first round to attack McWilliams with a powerful left hook and even though he was hurt he was able to finish the round on his feet and fighting.
In the second round, with greater power and precision, Martínez forced Arroyo to hug his rival on several occasions. In an exchange of blows, both had a clash of heads that left two cuts on the Puerto Rican’s eyelid.
For the third round, at the request of the Referee, the ring doctor came up and when checking on McWilliams he realized that he could not see. So the Referee halted the fight, which was declared a “No contest”.
This great card will be broadcast live around the world on DAZN.
