World Boxing Council Silver super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster returns to the ring after a long hiatus to face Tajikistan’s Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov in an eliminator for the WBC 130-pound title on the 19th March, at the Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai.
Yaqubov (18-0, 10 KOs), 26, will enter the ring with enthusiasm after his recent win. The southpaw managed by Egis Klimas is coming off a fourth round TKO victory over Cristian Palma last September. All three of his previous fights have been won by unanimous decision.
Foster (18-2, 11 KOs), Houston, Texas (not Gloucester) commented on some aspects of his upcoming fight in an interview with The Ring:
“I don’t like to give predictions. But I can see myself knocking out Yaqubov. Although if the fight reaches 12 rounds, we are ready to dominate and take the victory. It is possible that after this fight I will face Robson Conceicao, who won an eliminator as well. I really don’t want to waste any more time and my plan is to stay active, stay busy and become world champion soon.”
