World Boxing Council flyweight champion, Mexican Julio César “Rey” Martínez (16-1, 12 KOs), will defend his title against compatriot Moisés Calleros (33-9-1 17 KOs), this Friday, October 23 at the Estudios de TV Azteca, in Mexico City.
Julio Cesar Martinez (16-1 12 KOs) will make the second defense of his crown, after defeating Jay Harris in Dallas last February. The 25-year-old champion was going to face his compatriot Maximino Flores but tested positive for COVID-19.
This Friday, Martínez passed the official weigh-in without problems tipping 111 pounds, however, Calleros weighed 117.4 pounds, 5.4 pounds over the limit. Martinez accepted the weight disadvantage, so if he loses the title it will remain vacant.
