Two fabulous women`s boxing bouts, which could be coming our way in 2020 vision, involving WBC female super middleweight champion Alejandra “Tigre” Jimenez fighting WBC middleweight champion Claressa “T Rex” Shields, and WBC female bantamweight champion Mariana “Barby” Juarez clashing with Jackie “La Princesa Azteca” Nava.
At the seventh Jose Sulaiman Champions Race Madrinas lineup preview, Jackie who lives far away in Tijuana was a rare guest to Martes a Café. She mentions that this will be her final year in the ring. Accordingly and intelligently Mariana who was sitting a couple of places and paces away on the podium, seized the opportunity and with it, the initiative. She`s offered to give Jackie a chance to contest her WBC female bantamweight title. Both ladies who admire the boxing capabilities of the other, sportingly got up to smilingly shake hands and set the deal dial into motion.
And about time! At thirty nine apiece, neither are spring chickens! The two have fought more than one hundred fights. Mariana`s extraordinary record reads: 54-9-4, including 18 KO`s. She debuted in 1998! Jackie is 35-4-4, including 16 KO`s. She debuted in 2001. Both have withstood the test of time and their timing is still smack on.
Alejandra “Tigre” Jimenez who was once WBC female heavyweight champion, has just won the WBC female super middleweight crown from Franchon Crews Dezurn who`s a Golden Boy Promotions fighter. At the WBC`s weekly presser, Golden Boy Alchemist Oscar De La Hoya enthused about the possibility of Alejandra fighting Claressa at middleweight saying it`d be a classic and historic encounter, to further generate progress, as women`s boxing continues to grow due to dedication, discipline and heart.
