Developments in the WBC’s ‘Safer Adaptive Boxing Programme’ have made tremendous progress following a showcase boxing performance on Thursday the 28th of November.
The showcase performance was at the annual England Vs Scotland elite amateur boxing gala competition.
The showcase boxing match was performed by Luiz Faye and Christopher Middleton. Both boxers are acting Athlete Ambassadors for the Safer Boxing Programme.
By using two wheelchairs specially adapted for sports, both boxers dazzled over 200 spectators with an entertaining and energetic display of skills and sportsmanship.
The wheelchair boxing match was also filmed and live-streamed by the film production company FightNightLive TV. This live footage reached a wide and diverse audience.
The presence of the WBC was a significant part of the evening. Before the showcase performance took place the programmes acting Diversity and Inclusivity
Co-ordinator Dan Biddle gave the audience a fascinating and passionate interview.
Dan enlightened the audience about the Safer Adaptive Boxing Programme. As a wheelchair user himself Dan was able to explain about the mental and physical benefits that the program has. Dan’s interview epitomised to the audience how the support of the WBC within this project will help to transform the lives of its participants.
Following his interview, Dan was then invited to award medals to boxers at the end of their fights. Former heavyweight champion Scott Welch was also invited to award medals during the evening.
