World Boxing Council welterweight champion Shawn Porter will face champion Errol Spence Jr. on September 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, in a long-awaited fight to determine beyond a shadow of doubt who`s best at 147 pounds.
This will be Porter’s second WBC crown defense. He won the vacant title against Danny Garcia, and retained it in a close fight, defeating courageous Cuban Yordenis Ugas in the first quarter of this year. Meanwhile Spence Jr, comes from defeating Mikey Garcia in March.
Both fighters were face to face at a press conference where they were respectful yet tensely motivated for this exacting fight of distinction.
At 31 years old, 11 of them as a professional boxer, Porter (30-2-1, 17 Ko’s) is keenly aware that a victory over Spence Jr. is vital element to underline his legacy as a fighter.
Spence Jr. (25-0, 21 KOs), 29, IBF champion, is a fighter with great technique and speed, who will seek to take away the green and gold title from Porter, who`s determined to hold on to it.
The card is presented by Premier Boxing Champions and tickets are on sale. They can be purchased at AXS.com
