David Picasso joins Canelo Team

Rising undefeated Mexican fighter David Picasso takes a key step in his career by joining the renowned Canelo Team, under the guidance of Eddy Reynoso alongside Saul Alvarez.

Ranked at 122 pounds, Picasso has built a solid career based on punch volume, tactical discipline, and consistency, positioning himself as one of Mexico’s strongest international prospects. His style, centered on intelligent pressure and precision, has kept him undefeated and steadily climbing the rankings.

The Mexican fighter has held multiple WBC titles. In 2019, he became WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Bantamweight champion; a year later, he captured the same title at featherweight.

Picasso was also a two-time WBC Silver Super Bantamweight champion in 2023 and 2024.

David “Rey” Picasso challenged for the undisputed super bantamweight championship against Japanese champion Naoya Inoue.

His arrival coincides with the consolidation of the new Canelo Team gym in Guadalajara, a high-performance facility designed to continue developing champions under Reynoso’s methodology.
