The World Boxing Council (WBC) is proud to announce a major strategic growth that opens a new chapter in the global development and promotion of boxing.
Starting in 2025, WBC Eurasia officially began operations, receiving broad authority to oversee and develop boxing under the WBC throughout the Eurasian region.
The new organization aims to become a leading force in this region, integrate local boxing communities into the global boxing ecosystem, and implement comprehensive, long-term solutions for the systematic development of professional boxing.
To ensure effective governance, Mr Allen Shikhiev from Turkmenistan has been appointed as its first Vice President.
As with all WBC initiatives, athletes will remain the top priority. Boxers will be provided with transparent and structured opportunities to develop their careers. WBC Eurasia will help fighters from Eurasia countries integrate into the international competitive system.
A key step in this process will be enabling athletes to participate in official professional boxing events and compete for the WBC Eurasia title without the need to change their sporting jurisdiction—removing a major barrier that has historically limited international progression for many fighters.
The WBC has always placed global growth of the boxing industry at the forefront of its mission. This initiative will make boxing more accessible and sustainable, allowing young local talents to build professional careers in their home countries while benefiting from world-class infrastructure.
Recognizing the importance of economic sustainability, WBC Eurasia will actively work to attract partnerships and media partnerships for boxing projects throughout the region, operating under the official auspices of the World Boxing Council.
WBC Eurasia will introduce full range of WBC educational and certification programs into the new regions. This will include the training and future licensing of local coaches, judges, referees, and other officials. WBC Eurasia will focus on developing professionals who begin at the local level and progress to officiating and coaching on the world stage.
Plans also include organizing referee and coaching seminars, engaging internationally recognized trainers to educate local specialists, and preparing active regional boxers for competition at the highest international level.
“We are honored to embark on this new journey together with WBC Eurasia. We believe this step will soon allow boxers from the Eurasian European countries to compete for WBC titles on the global stage.”
