An entertaining card presented by Eye of the Tiger Promotions took place at the Cabaret du Casino in Montreal, Canada, this Thursday, February 5. Regional champions of the World Boxing Council (WBC) proved their power by retaining their respective titles in a card filled with action and decisive finishes.
In the main event of the evening, the undefeated Mehmet Unal (15-0, 13 KOs) successfully defended his WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight title by knocking out the previously undefeated Altin Zogaj (17-1) in the ninth round. Unal, born in Turkey but based in Montreal, controlled the action with intelligence until the ninth round, when he landed a powerful right hand that sent Zogaj to the canvas, forcing the referee to stop the fight. With this victory, Unal solidifies his position as one of the most serious threats at 175 pounds.
In the co-feature, the talented Dzmitry Asanau maintained his perfect record and retained his WBC Continental Americas Lightweight title after defeating the gritty Spaniard Carlos Ramos via technical knockout in the seventh round.
Ramos showed immense bravery, but Asanau’s systematic punishment forced the Spaniard’s corner to stop the fight at 3:00 of the seventh round to protect their fighter’s integrity.
