The WBC featherweight division will crown a new world champion on January 31, 2026, when Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (16-0, 9 KOs) faces Carlos Castro (30-3, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC featherweight world title in New York.
Bruce is the current WBC interim featherweight champion, a belt he captured in July of last year with a victory over Mateus Heita.
He enters the bout as one of the most promising and exciting emerging talents in boxing, standing out for his speed, wily, wiry technical skill, and controlled aggression. Carlos, meanwhile, brings a wealth of battle hardened experience, durability, and a forward-pressing style, that consistently produces high-action exchanges.
With the world title on the line, both fighters will be keenly seeking not only the belt, but also recognition as a soaring flurry on the international featherweight horizon, while embracing a hatching nest egg.
