After his win this past Saturday over Shane Mosley Jr., Jesús Ramos Jr. made it clear that his immediate target is Dominican fighter Carlos Adames, the WBC middleweight world champion.
Ramos, the current WBC interim middleweight titleholder, stated that he has no interest in holding on to a provisional belt and that his intention is to face the fully recognized champion.
“I want Adames. He’s the full champion, and I don’t want the interim belt. I want the champion,” the American fighter said.
Adames must first fulfill his mandatory defense against Meiirim Nursultanov, as ordered during the most recent WBC Annual Convention, but the possible showdown with Ramos is already taking shape within the middleweight landscape.
