WBC Light Flyweight Status

The WBC Board of Governors has thoroughly reviewed the situation surrounding the light fly division and with the current political complications which directly impact our champion Carlos Cañizalez availability to leave the country or even organize a world championship event, the WBC has ruled the following:

Carlos Cañizalez has been placed as champion in recess until the time he is able to resume his international career.

Thammanoon Niyomtrong, who was scheduled to fight Cañizalez has been approved to fight against WBC #3 ranked Junior Zarate from Argentina for the WBC light flyweight championship

The fight will take place on December 4th, 2025 during the WBC 63rd Annual Convention in Bangkok Thailand
