
The WBC, which is simultaneously holding its 63rd Boxing and its first Muay Thai Conventions in Bangkok November 30th to December 5th, stands willing, able and ready to help in the legion of efforts to help Southern Thailand, which has been stricken and deluged by the most severe flooding in more than three centuries.
More than thirty people have died, yet more are missing and 150,O00 are stranded by the flooding, which has swept through and submerged the city of Hat Yai, in the south of the country. a hub of business, finance and commerce in Songkla Province, which is severely affected.
The Thai Cabinet has promptly declared the Region a Disaster Zone, with Government Armed Forces, rescuing stranded people clinging to rooftops., while also coordinating air drops, of non perishable foodstuffs, clean drinking water, warm clothes, medicines and oxygen tanks plus other survival necessities, for those in dire need.
A beacon of light and hope, during a dark, dismal time and frown of rain and deluge, which has so grievously affected The Land of Smiles. The distress beams, have reached and touched the heart and mind of the World Boxing Council.
The WBC, which is a long standing loyal friend and ally of Thailand, is in contact with its Thai team, particularly its Muay Thai Office, to assess how best to direct and channel help, efforts and initiatives in the most viable and practical possible way.
By its nature, a crisis of this magnitude, needs and cries out for the best and most caring, constant allies. The saying goes, A friend in need is a friend indeed. The WBC is determined to walk the talk.
A problem shared may not necessarily be halved. But the willingness to help,, shows the true value, significance and worth of friendship.
This severely stroke Mother Nature has dealt and inflicted, has been a harsh and bitter blow. Now an arc of help and covenant of assistance is being formulated, bonded and will put into effect. A timely response to the SOS.
