By far the most ambitious and far-reaching World Boxing Council annual get-together of all time, at the Marriott Marquis, Queen’s Park Hotel, Bangkok, as it’s the WBC’s 63rd Boxing Convention and now simultaneously its first Muay Thai Convention. The Double Helping Convention is from November 30th to December 5th. There is much to discuss and then transform into tangible action, to strengthen the foundations on which to build a better, more coordinated, and essentially safer future for the boxers, who are the forefront, fulcrum, atop the hands-on pyramid.
The combined expertise of the WBC Team and Specialists from the hotel and further afield were coordinated by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and Major General Thanapol Bhakdibhumi who is also Chairman of WBC Muay Thai.
The WBC Family of almost two hundred affiliate nations is vast and diverse. At this Convention there are various categories. They include: Champions, Fighters, Commissions, press, Federations, cutmen, coaches, doctors, promoters, matchmakers and more all providing the spark, which will kindle and light up the success of communication.
On November 30th, the first evening cocktail was held. Meeting old friends but also an opportunity to strike up fresh, new acquaintances, at the Pool House.
World Championship Boxing action at a special boxing show was planned, as well as the Gala Dinner—a chance to relax and be merry after long days of productive work.
Days of hard work including an emotional opening ceremony, ratings sessions, ring officials’ seminar, and more. This is a snapshot of what’s going to be happening on days which will better boxing. A meeting of harmony and purpose.
Appreciation for famous Thai hospitality, which was reciprocated by the WBC’s very own Tony Bennett, Esteban Ruesga, who sang “Bésame Mucho.”
Rapturous applause which almost brought the house down!
