The Guadalajara International Book Fair in Jalisco, Mexico, will host an emotional tribute and deep reflection on José Sulaimán, one of the most influential figures in world boxing history.
On November 30, from 8:00 PM to 8:50 PM, Sulaimán: A Doce Rounds will be presented—an introspective work combining memoir, analysis, and personal testimony, exploring the multiple dimensions of the legendary WBC leader.
Written by Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, the book not only portrays the reformist sports figure who modernized boxing globally but also reveals the close, determined, and compassionate human being who devoted his life to dignifying the sport and protecting fighters. Structured in twelve chapters—symbolic rounds—the format pays tribute to one of José Sulaimán’s most defining reforms, which forever changed professional boxing regulations.
More than a biography, the publication stands as a testament to Sulaimán’s constant battle—not against opponents in the ring, but against injustice, institutional neglect, and the systemic violence endured by thousands of boxers for decades. The work highlights his ethical, reformist, and humanitarian legacy—elements that redefined the sport’s standards worldwide.
Among the personalities featured at the presentation will be Don José “Chepo” Reynoso and former world champion Jackie Nava, who will share their perspectives on Sulaimán’s influence. Members of the WBC and close acquaintances of the author will also participate, recalling key moments in the life of the man who reshaped the boxing world without ever throwing a punch.
The event promises to be one of the standout moments of the Guadalajara Book Fair—not only for boxing fans but for anyone interested in stories that transform cultures, institutions, and entire lives.
