Pitbull and Roach take the lead during Virtual Press Conference

WBC Interim Super Lightweight Champion, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, and opponent, Lamont Roach, held a virtual press conference ahead of their main event fight on the PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video on Saturday, December 6, from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The event is promoted by TGB Promotions in association with MP Promotions, ProBox Promotions, and BXSTRS.
Here is some of what Cruz and Roach had to say on Tuesday:

ISAAC “PITBULL” CRUZ

“We are truly excited to go out there on December 6 and deliver the great show that the fans in San Antonio and all over the world deserve.
Since day one, we’ve had a demanding training camp because we know Roach is a great opponent. However, we have maintained our determination, with victory as our only goal. I’m going to win, no matter what.

“My level of activity this year will be a huge advantage for me. I’ve only had to make a few adjustments. I haven’t had to prepare for training camp. We’ve been able to prepare exactly how we want heading into December 6.

“I am going to leave my soul in the ring. I am going to go for it, round after round, no matter how tough it gets. It’s about giving the fans what they deserve.
“Gervonta Davis, Roach, and I are three completely different fighters. I expect Roach to come ready to fight, because it will be very different from what he saw against Gervonta in March. Lamont says he is going to knock me out, so I’m going to go after him with everything necessary.

“The fans are everything to me. If they take the time to watch me fight, that is priceless to me. Not all boxers understand that, but I know that hearing them cheering me on during the fight helps me push through.

“My power has always been there, and I’ve shown it in every fight I’ve had. We’ll see if Roach can step into the ring and withstand my power on December 6.”

LAMONT ROACH

“We’ve brought in tough, relentless guys to prepare me. We’ve looked good sparring with them. A fight is different from sparring, but it’s about getting into that mindset and into the KO zone. I will definitely enter that mode on December 6.

“I’m here to show that my most recent fight was not just an inspired night. I will fight at that level all the time. I want to put on a show for the fans and prove that I’m at the level needed to headline events like this.

“People can expect a first-class show. The undercard will be phenomenal, leading up to a high-level main event. I promise you it will be a spectacular fight, without a doubt.
“Every time I step into the ring, my goal is to show everyone that I am going to go down in history as one of the best fighters of all time.

“We’re going to see what opportunities present themselves in the ring. You’ll be able to appreciate many aspects of my fighting style. That will be the beauty of the night.”
“I pay no attention to the fans in the stadium. Not at all. Once I step into the ring, distractions are minimal for me. The only things I hear are the two corners and the referee. I’ve been in this situation before and I know how to handle it.”
