On Wednesday, November 12, Mauricio Sulaiman attended the unveiling of the Pedro Treto Cisneros statue, a gesture of gratitude meant to honor his legacy in Mexican sports.
This Tuesday, members of Don Pedro Treto’s family attended Martes de Café. As a gesture of appreciation, Pedro Treto presented Mauricio Sulaiman with a commemorative bat from the ceremony and a Treto family medal.
Luis Arturo Treto said: “The most difficult verb to conjugate is ‘to thank.’ Too often, we take things for granted. Today, we reaffirm that idea as we honor the Sulaiman family.
My father and Mauricio’s father played baseball on the fields, chasing dreams that eventually came true. Two men who gave their lives, with sacrifice, to national sport. We hope you wear this medal with the same pride with which we give it to you. In our family, this medal is reserved only for those closest to our hearts.”
Mauricio Sulaiman said: “I want you to know that I receive this medal with great pride and honor, and I will wear it that way.
“Don Pedro and my father used to play baseball together in the fields of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. They dreamed together, and time led them to co-found COMEDEP. It’s a beautiful thing to be here with his children and a grandson.
“Family is fate, but friends are chosen — and they are the ones destiny places in your path to show you the greatness of true friendship.”
