It’s in support of the project dubbed “La Chidoteca,” aimed at children and adolescents. This recreational space is designed to motivate minors to engage in artistic, cultural, physical, and sports activities.
The “La Chidoteca” project will be a venue where thousands of children and adolescents can socialize, learn tools to combat addictions through culture and sports, and participate in weekly workshops with artists who will teach families to paint, play an instrument, or approach culture.
During the event, Oswald Huerta, president of the Culturalmente Responsable organization and advisor to the Communication Council for the project, declared:
“The day we lose creativity and a sense of humor, we will be condemned to live in the cold recesses of the mind. Cultural responsibility is this accumulation of activities that we all do for a better Mexico, and through it, we manage to unite through art.”
For his part, Salvador Villalobos, president of the Communication Council, added:
“Thank you all very much for being part of this project. This project started a long time ago; we imagined a country where children do not consume alcohol and tobacco. La Chidoteca will be a venue where thousands upon thousands of children and adolescents will be able to socialize, learn about the tools to combat addictions through culture and sports.”
One of the cornerstones of this space will be the presence of artists every week who will teach families to paint, play an instrument, and bring them closer to culture.
At the event, professional violinist Petrovich Music offered a musical piece as part of the cultural program, while former boxers Pipino Cuevas, Isaac “Tortas” Bustos, and champion Lulu Juárez performed a pad work demonstration for the guests and invited attendees to put on the gloves and try the exercise.
Mauricio Sulaimán, in his speech as President of the WBC, said:
“It’s a pleasure to be here. The boxer comes from the neighborhood; it’s easy for them to take the wrong path; without guidance and without discipline, you can have a very complicated life. This initiative is something marvelous: it’s not cool to smoke, it’s not cool to drink, and it’s not cool to stay silent; it’s very easy to spread the word and slowly build up.
“Children have a very complicated world; we must make an effort in every way to change the dynamics we live in. Fostering culture, sports, entertainment, and art is something we must do one way or another. We have a great responsibility; today, I join in to do everything we can as president of the WBC, as a family head, as a colleague, and I want to invite everyone to be ambassadors of this campaign.” He also brought gifts for the attendees.
