During the same virtual press conference, rising Mexican star Jesús “Mono” Ramos Jr. and Shane Mosley Jr. were presented as part of the undercard for the WBC Interim Middleweight Title.
Ramos spoke with measured but firm ambition:
“I’m really excited for this fight. I’ve known Shane for a while and I know he’s a great guy. He’s preparing at the highest level, so I know we’ll give fans a great show on December 6.”
Acknowledging his rival’s credentials, Ramos added:
“He’s definitely a tough opponent. He’s very experienced, hardworking, dedicated, and disciplined. He’s dangerous, no doubt.”
He also reflected on his approach:
“We never sparred together, but we used to train in the same gym and had the same strength coach. We’ve talked before — he’s a great person. I know I have to be at my absolute best.”
Ramos recognized the challenge of facing a bigger opponent:
“Shane is moving down from 168 pounds, so he’ll be the bigger man in the ring. I’ll have to show different skills and my boxing IQ.”
Looking ahead, Ramos stated:
“I want the big challenges. I want to face Carlos Adames or move back to 154 to fight Sebastian Fundora. I’m ready to stay at 160 and fight the co-main event winner. But my main focus is Shane Mosley, and I’m not underestimating him.”
He closed confidently:
“I think we’re going to steal the show. We’re both hungry and coming to win. We both want that green and gold belt, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes. It’ll be fireworks on December 6.”
Mosley Jr., with his trademark composure, responded:
“Ramos is a great young star and a formidable opponent. I’m looking forward to this championship fight. It doesn’t matter if I’m his toughest challenge — we’re going to fight, give it our all, and try to win. What happened before doesn’t matter.”
He added:
“My experience might help me. I have to be at my best. He’s young and hungry, so I need to stay sharp. This is the most important fight of my life — it’s for the title. I’ve fought my whole career for this moment, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
