Most Valuable Promotions will present an attractive bout between Mexican warriors at the Convention Center in South Padre Island, Texas, on Saturday, October 18, when the current World Boxing Council minimumweight champion, Lourdes “Lulú” Juárez, faces Yesica Nery Plata.
Their title fight, scheduled for ten rounds, will headline the Most Valuable Prospect 16 card in an event that will be broadcast on Dazn.com/wbc.
The fight will mark the MVP debut of Nery Plata, a native of Mexico City (30-2, 3 KOs), who became the first Mexican woman signed by the company earlier this summer. It also marks her triumphant return after an almost two-year absence from the ring that resulted in the end of her 108-pound reign following a brilliant 2023 campaign.
Juárez, with a record of 38-4, with 5 knockouts, became a two-division champion after conquering the vacant WBC 108-pound title with a ten-round unanimous decision victory over Yesenia Gómez last November 29. Her only defense was a ninth-round knockout over Mirna Sánchez last March 7.
This fight will mark the United States debut of the 38-year-old Juárez, also from Mexico City, who is the older sister of the legendary Mariana Juárez, a former two-division champion.
