The World Boxing Council proudly recognizes and admires Muhammad Ali, current WBC Asia Welterweight Champion, for his extraordinary example of perseverance, discipline, and determination.
Muhammad Ali made history as the first diabetic professional boxer in the United Kingdom to be granted a license by the British Boxing Board of Control in 2018, following three years of determined effort and an exhaustive medical and legal process that established special safety protocols for athletes with Type 1 diabetes. This milestone opened the door to inclusion and new opportunities within professional boxing.
Since then, Ali has inspired millions around the world, proving that health challenges are not an insurmountable barrier to achieving one’s dreams.
With an undefeated record of 16 wins and 0 losses, he proudly represents the UK while embodying the spirit of resilience that defines every WBC champion.
The WBC expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. Asad Shamim, Advisor for Sponsorships and Media to Muhammad Ali, who conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the entire WBC family for their continued support of the British boxer.
“Your recognition and encouragement have meant the world to Muhammad and to all who see him as a source of inspiration,” said Shamim. “His story is not only a sporting triumph but a powerful reminder that no medical condition should stand in the way of ambition and determination.”
The World Boxing Council is honored to share the story of an athlete who defies the odds and proves that true strength comes from the heart.
