At the traditional Martes de Café hosted by the WBC, a special event for Mexican women’s boxing was announced.
On November 8, at the Auditorio GNP Seguros, Puebla’s Gaby “Bonita” Sánchez will fight for the WBC interim flyweight title against Argentina’s Tamara “Rebelde” Demarco. Currently, “Bonita” holds the WBC Silver title.
Sánchez, who is also the head of the Secretariat of Sports and Youth of the Puebla state government, shared her feelings ahead of the fight:
“I feel very happy and proud to represent Puebla. We will continue working for the development of sports. I am very grateful to the WBC for supporting us. It will be a real war in the ring. It will be an excellent fight.”
WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán dedicated a special message to her:
“I want to congratulate you for your dual role as a boxer and as an official fighting for sports in your state.”
The bout between Sánchez and Demarco promises to be a memorable battle and reinforces the growth of women’s boxing in Mexico and Latin America.
