Former Champion Kim Clavel Signs with Most Valuable Promotions
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) has announced the signing of former WBC female light flyweight world champion, Kim Clavel, who will make her promotional debut this fall.
Clavel joins other Canadians on the MVP roster, including lightweight contender Lucas Bahdi and two-time Canadian Olympian Tamm Thibeault.
Kim Clavel, 34, from Montreal, Canada, has a record of 21-2 (3 KOs) and is currently on a four-fight winning streak. Her most recent triumph was a unanimous decision victory over Anabel Ortiz in February. Under the management of Groupe Yvon Michel, Clavel captured the WBC light flyweight title in 2022 by defeating Yesenia Gómez.
Clavel’s career stands out both inside and outside the ring. She had a remarkable amateur career, reaching a fifth-place world ranking over 85 bouts and winning a gold medal at the 2017 Continental Games.
She turned professional that same year. In addition, Clavel is a registered nurse who, during the COVID-19 pandemic, returned to work at a long-term care facility. This act of service earned her the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2020 ESPY Awards. She has also been named “Prospect of the Year” by the WBC and a “New Generation Leader” by Time magazine.
Trained by Danielle Bouchard, Clavel’s next goal is to conquer another title and ultimately become a unified champion.
“A new chapter begins with MVP: pride, motivation, and the honor of joining a team that is redefining women’s boxing,” said Clavel. “I am grateful to Jake Paul, Nakisa Bidarian, and the entire organization for their trust. I also want to thank the GYM team for helping me get to this point. We’ve come a long way, but we still have a long way to go!”
Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of MVP, stated: “Kim Clavel is the definition of a champion, not just in the ring, but in life. From stepping away from boxing at the height of her career to return to nursing during the pandemic, to winning the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the ESPY Awards, Kim has demonstrated the type of courage, selflessness, and commitment that inspires millions.”
