Makabu vs. Manyuchi

After some changes to the fight date, Ilunga Makabu will face Charles Manyuchi on Friday, September 5 defending his WBC Africa cruiserweight title at the Stadium Basket, Stade des Martyrs, in Kinshasa, Congo.

This fight is part of the Year of Africa celebrations; earlier this year, the World Boxing Council declared 2025 as the Year of Africa.

The celebration pays tribute to the history, achievements, magnificence, and splendor of African boxing. In January 2025, the WBC announced that this would be the Year of Africa, which has been distinguished with different events featuring African fighters across the continent, showcasing the great talent and diversity of boxing in Africa.

Some of the highlights so far:

• Kevin Lerena opened the celebrations by successfully defending his WBC Bridgerweight world title.
• Lawrence Okolie defended his WBC Silver heavyweight belt on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s main event.
• David Mwale and Michael Decardi fought for the WBC International bantamweight title in Zambia.
• To honor the 50th anniversary of the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle”, a special commemorative belt was created.

Charles Manyuchi brings in a solid résumé with 30 wins (19 KOs), 5 losses, and 1 draw.
