Undisputed flyweight world champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora will return to the ring on September 20 to defend her belts against Argentina’s Ayelén Granadino, at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California, as part of a Golden Boy Promotions card to be streamed on DAZN.
This will be Fundora’s third title defence. In April, she stopped Marilyn Badillo in the seventh round. Based and training in California’s Coachella Valley, the 23-year-old champion will be fighting professionally in front of her hometown fans for only the second time.
Granadino earned this opportunity by defeating Micaela Milagros Luján, and she will make her U.S. debut with the goal of taking all the belts back to Argentina.
The fight shapes up as a clash of styles between Fundora’s technique and reach and the relentless pressure of the South American challenger, in a night that could define the future of the women’s flyweight division.
Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora holds an undefeated record of 16-0 with 8 KOs.
Ayelén Granadino has a record of 12-2-4 with 1 KO.
