The Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix has implemented a groundbreaking safety protocol known as the S.A.F.E. (Stop All Fighting Equipment) System. This system is designed to immediately and effectively halt a boxing match when a corner decides to stop the fight, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the boxer.
Key Components and Process:
Activation by Chief Second: The system is initiated exclusively by the Chief Second in a boxer’s corner. The Chief Second is the only person with the authority and capability to activate the system.
Safety-First Design: The activation button is designed to prevent accidental presses. It is covered, and a deliberate two-step process—uncovering and then pressing—is required to stop the bout.
Immediate Notifications: Once the button is pushed, the S.A.F.E. System instantly sends notifications to multiple key personnel:Timekeeper: The timekeeper is immediately informed that the match has been stopped.
Supervisors & Doctors: The system alerts supervisors and the ringside medical team that the fight will not continue.
Opponent’s Corner: An inspector from the corner that stopped the fight will promptly notify the opposing corner to ensure they understand the bout has concluded and to prevent any further action.
Minimized Response Time: The system’s primary goal is to minimize response time for medical personnel. By instantly notifying doctors, it enables them to enter the ring immediately to assess and attend to the fighter, without any potential delay or misunderstanding.
Developer Information:
The S.A.F.E. System was developed by Safe Systems LLC and is brought to the event by IBMC. This innovation underscores the Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix’s commitment to setting a new standard for athlete safety in professional boxing.
