Ángel “Tashiro” Fierro has been officially pulled from his scheduled fight against Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and will be replaced by Omar Salcido.
The highly anticipated rematch between Cruz and Fierro will no longer take place this Saturday as planned. Fierro was removed from the Pacquiao vs. Barrios undercard after experiencing discomfort that led to a precautionary medical evaluation.
Following the assessment, doctors determined that the Mexican fighter was not fit to compete, and his participation was canceled in the interest of his health.
Stepping in on short notice, Cruz will now face Omar Salcido, who accepted the challenge to keep the bout alive on this weekend’s card. The WBC interim 140-pound title will be at stake.
The health of the fighters remains the number one priority, above all sporting commitments. The decision to withdraw Fierro reflects a commitment to athlete safety and the integrity of the sport.
Despite the change, the matchup between Cruz and Salcido is still expected to deliver fireworks, given the aggressive styles and proven skill of both fighters.
Omar Salcido enters the ring with a professional record of 20 wins, 2 losses, and 14 knockouts.
Fierro’s trainer, Robert García, addressed the situation on social media:
“I want to apologize to everyone involved in the fight. This morning we made the decision for my fighter, Ángel Fierro, to avoid a dangerous weight cut that could compromise his health. I asked our team to get him medical attention. As a trainer, my responsibility goes beyond preparing him — it’s also about keeping him safe and closely monitoring his well-being.”
Official weigh in:
Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz came in at 138.8 pounds.
Omar Salcido weighed 139.4 pounds.
